How to decrease anxiety talking on the phone

Updated: Jan 29

  1. Prepare in advance: Before making a phone call, take a few minutes to prepare yourself mentally and gather any information or materials you may need during the call. This can help to reduce anxiety and make you feel more in control.

  2. Use deep breathing techniques: Take a few deep breaths before and during the call to help calm your nerves and relax your body.

  3. Find a quiet and comfortable space: Choose a quiet and comfortable space to make the call, free from distractions and interruptions, this will help you to focus on the conversation.

  4. Keep a glass of water close by: Having a glass of water nearby can help to moisten your throat and reduce the chances of your voice trembling or cracking.

  5. Take notes: Taking notes during the call can help you to stay focused and on track, and can also serve as a helpful reference for later.

  6. Practice positive self-talk: Remind yourself that you are capable and competent, and that you have the ability to handle the call. Give yourself positive reinforcement and remind yourself that it's ok to feel nervous, it's normal.
